Provides psychiatric medical services to the department by evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing consultations services for patients with psychiatric illnesses and or substance abuse. Services include clinical management of inpatients, medical evaluations, and participation in comprehensive treatment planning for new patients or revision of treatment plan for long-term patients. Provide consultation to outpatient clinical staff in the diagnosis, treatment planning and case management of outpatient patients, proctorship to eligible staff who conducts emergency intake assessments, and psychiatric consults to Guam Memorial Hospital (GMH) Emergency Room, medical or surgical department.
There is one full-time psychiatrist and 3 part-time consulting psychiatrists who rotate services in providing consultative, diagnostic and treatment services to the different service areas (Inpatients units, outpatient programs, emergency services and medication clinic) for both the adult and children’s services
